To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Ok, although I gave this computer a 4-star rating I really do like it.The reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is the build quality. While it looks nice in the pictures (and looks even better in person), the base is made from a sort of flimsy material, and if you pick it up with one hand, you get a lot of flex. There's also some pretty sharp edges from a lack of precision manufacturing, causing certain areas to protrude a little more than others.
Also, the sound quality is pretty much garbage.DYNAUDIO should be ashamed for even pretending like these speakers are of a high quality, because they aren't.
So, with that being said, why would I like this computer?Because for me it is exactly what I wanted.I have a MacBook Air that cost $1,300.00, is superbly manufactured, strong, and highly portable. But it only has 256GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, and a low quality screen. That's why I bought this computer.I don't need it to move, in fact, its going to sit on my desk almost exclusively.I bought it to be a substitute for a bulky, ugly desk top, and it more than fulfills that role. After a quick upgrade (that was honestly more difficult that it should have been), I now have an i7 processor, a 500GB SSD, and 16GB of RAM.
And friends, as long as you don't plan on tossing this thing around or expecting it to endure the life of a Mobile Workstation (which its not), then it is a dream. The keyboard is sooo nice to type on.The screen is beautiful and clear, and the track pad is decent for a PC.Well, I take that back, it is built decently, but it doesn't really follow very well. But, once again, for me it doesn't matter because I'm using a Bluetooth mouse anyway.
So, to recap for any potential buyers... -If you want a desktop substitute that you can carry over to the couch as well... -If you don't mind slightly lower quality for an affordable, high-performing machine... -If you aren't planning on using this thing like an ultrabook... Then this is the computer for you.
If you do want something that fulfills the criteria above, then i'd recommend a 128GB storage, 4GB RAM13" MacBook Air.
Great machine I love everything about it! I was looking for a good laptop for quite some time, I'm glad I found this bad boy, I'm falling in love with it more and more, everyday.
I'm a graphic designer and a gamer, I run Adobe programs and steam games like Dota 2 and TF2.

I ordered an MSI Computer P PE60 2QD-060US;9S7-16J214-060 15.6-Inch Laptop on 20 June 2015.It arrived soon after and, in most respects, it is right at the top of any computer I've used in my 30+ years working with PC computers. You can find it here:

Since it arrived just a bit before Windows 10 was released, it gave me the opportunity to get acquainted with Windows 8.1 on a non-touch screen computer. Although Windows 8.1 may appeal to many, I much prefer Windows 7 Ultimate 64bt that I've been using since that became available in late 2009.Consequently, I was looking forward to upgrading to Windows 10 ASAP and I was able to do this 2 months after my order arrived.Although Windows 10 is better than Windows 8.1 (which I've occasionally used on my wife's excellent touch screen Lenovo Yoga) for the way I use a computer, Microsoft definitely needs to make many changes before Windows 10 is as reliable and easy to use as Windows 7 was from its very beginning in December 2009.
While the supplied 8.1 OS may be less than perfect, generally the MSI PE60 2QD is great in many ways:its 1 tb HDD, 16 gb RAM, the speed of the CDU, the excellent audio, the presence of the optical drive, the light-weight, but sturdy case and so many other areas - all of this for such a good price. The things I do not like are:
1) the keyboard layout. The keyboard has an excellent feel and its lighting is great, but the crazy batch of keys makes no sense and the strange topography as the lettering is difficult to read, even nonsensical. Why not keep it simple stupid - KISS?A friend's brand new Lenovo Y50 - though I much prefer the white lighting on my MSI rather than red - is much better with the familiar key locations - like having the Win key to the left of the space bar that would place 4 keys there. And why the extra, seldom-used |\ key placed at the right of the space bar?How much better it would have been to have moved the 4 direction keys left to a better position under the right SHIFT key - even if that key would have had to be narrowed since the left SHIFT key can do the job virtually all the time. Why double some of these keys that are already convenient - or is it that my hand behavior is too imbedded in my brain to be changed?
2) although almost all of the rest of the layout - the locations of the various connecting jacks, etc - is very good and the touch pad is excellent (though I almost always use my wonderful Logitech M705 wireless mouse) is good, it seems strange to place the three important operating indicating lights on the sloping front of the lower case where it is virtually invisible from above, especially when one is using the computer in your lap. Those important lights do not need to take much space and should be moved either to the area at the rear of the keyboard or place below the monitor screen to the right of MSI's nameplate.Lights similar to the on-off light on the turn on button would solve that problem perfectly and be so much more useful than the current strange location.
3)give the computer's owner the possibility to change the type of memory drive from an HDD to an SSD (so much faster, quieter and cooler to use than the old HDDs) without voiding the warranty.I have done that often on my old Lenovo without any difficulty but I'm not even sure an otherwise qualified geek dare do that for me.
So I have complained a bit, but I know that MSI can make an otherwise really excellent computer into the very best available.MSI just needs input from their clients and then pay attention because their customers want to see them continuing to do the best possible - and then we will continue buying more of their products.Let's go for it, MSI, an excellent company I've dealt with for decades on my old desktop.
