I am a proud momma of an Asus 700.My 11 year old sons Kindle fire died after a year and 4 months. and I replaced it with an Iconia.I have had it for 3days.I paid $299 for a 64 gig.At this price, it is worth it. Do not go for a smaller hard drive version.
I want to use it: 1.For homework (6th grade) 2.to play games (disappointed in the choices in store) 3.Watch my zune and amazon movies on.I have thousands of dollars worth.
DON'T BY KINDLE PRODUCTS THEY WON'T CHARGE AFTER A YEAR.
Get the largest hard disc you can, because windows takes up a lot of space.I was extremely disappointed that it took up about 30 GB in software.This device operates like the full windows program.So if you can install it, any program can work.
This device does not have the beautiful screen, but do we need it.Its resolution is good enough for watching videos on the go.My Zune videos and Amazon Prime worked fine with this.
I was happy that it runs nextissue.The android version does not work in favor of google play store
The Kindle app works fine.However, the lack of space on the 64gb makes it hard to download all the books.
It is irritating that I would have to pay again for all of my games.Microsoft store does not have temple run, and seems to be missing angry birds.Android has better apps and games.
The sound quality is bad.I probably have to find the settings to correct the tinny speakers
It does have a family monitor program that is better than google.

It worked OK at first, but I was never happy with the quality of the touch screen or the accuracy of how it sensed touch.I found I had to tap multiple times on something for it to react.There is a very limited viewing angle, much like old LCD TV's.The touch keyboard is terrible!very inaccurate for typing, and no customization ( other than full or split ) predictive text and spell check does not work.After a few weeks it developed a problem with the display:when you wake up the screen, you get a black and white static screen ( a lot like old TV's tuned to a channel with no reception )the only thing you could do then would be to do a force/ hard reboot, and it would be fine until you let the screen go back to sleep.
I did like how it was up and running in about 7 seconds from a cold boot, battery life was about 4 hours, and the fact that it came with a 64gb hard drive, but it would get very hot to the touch on the back side near the processor.I would like to have seen more than 2gb of ram for better multi-tasking.
After the Windows 8.1 free update, the tablet went completely nuts...I spent over an hour with Acer tech support, and they said there were no drivers for 8.1 and there was no way to go back to 8.0 because the tablet froze every time I tried to restore it. Acer Tech support was worthless, the idiot that was helping me kept telling me to, " insert the restore CD/DVD disk into the tablet, that came in the original box."What!!!???its's a tablet, there is no CD/DVD drive!!!He was clearly reading from a script and had no clue about the difference from Windows to Android...
Bottom line is I just shipped it back to Amazon this morning. ( they gave me an RMA and prepaid shipping label )I really hope they get me a refund ASAP so I can get a nice Android tablet...
Stick with Android!!!They only release updates when they are sure they work,devices don't freeze or get a virus, and if all else fails, no matter how bad you mess it up, you can always do a restore... ( and you will not need a CD/DVD to do it...LOL! )

Don't pay too much attention to the viewing angles. You can see from where you sit perfectly. It's a great little machine, for the price! I needed it for powerpoint presentations and the fact that has an individual port for charging it leaves both ports micro usb and hdmi open for all the extra tasks. I first bought the toshiba encore, but it overheats to the point you can't hold it in your hand and having to charge through the micro usb didn't allow me to connect the dongle for the powerpoint slide changer. Couldn't be happier. The refurbisher even included the keyboard (which other sellers don't) and a sleeve cover. Ok, only one item does bug me a little: the weight, for even though it's small enough to hold, it's too heavy to do work while holding it. But since I'll be using it with the keyboard only, I don't mind it that much. If you need to hold in your hands then look somewhere else, this is the heaviest of the windows 8 tablets
I like the size, touch screen, microsoft office, and a lot of its features. I can't stand that it randomly will not turn on. This is my second Acer tablet. The first one would not turn on and I sent it back. The replacement worked great for a month, but today is the second time it has not turned on when I pressed the power button. A few weeks ago it would not turn on. I called tech support and did all the things they told me to. It still would not turn on. As I was preparing it for shipping, I pushed the power button and it came on. I called tech support about this, and they told me to not send it to them for repair as they could not fix what it was not doing. I am waiting to see if it will turn on later today. (I am using my old laptop to send this review). It is very frustrating to not be able to turn on my computer/tablet. What use is a blank screen?
